Time Event
Hi, I'm new to this community *wave*

So I was up half the night last night trying to get Ventrilo working via Wine. I managed to get the program up and running and I could hear other people talk (with a few occasional stutters) but the problem was that my microphone wasn't picking anything up. When I pressed my push-to-talk key, the little icon next to my name turned green, but nothing I said could be heard. Trying the "Monitor" test in setup just gets me a bunch of "Abs Zero" over and over so for some reason my mic isn't picking anything up.

I've tried two different headsets, both a USB one and a "regular" one, and I'm getting the same results with both. I spent a good few hours tweaking various settings in winecfg and the volume mixer but I've still met with no success. If any of you guys have any brainstorms, they would be much appreciated... I've been using Linux exclusively for the past year, and I really don't want to have to resort to duel-booting Windows just to appease my guild in World of Warcraft.

I'm using Kubuntu 6.06 and my sound card is Realtek AC97. (The reason I haven't updated my Kubuntu version, in case anyone is interested, is because newer versions do not seem to work with my wireless card.)

(Possibly cross-posted a place or two; sorry if you see this twice.)

Current Mood: curious
Ok people, here's a linux arc (sort of) that's been running in M for a while. I figure at least some of these are pretty icon-able. :) Collapse )
