How is DVD burning in linux? specifically Slackware 10. Any useful tools or warnings i should know about? I like to copy movies and burn data discs. Is the switch from XP worth it? otherwise im stuck with Nero on my Windows machine which has reached its half life.

unknown scancode errors
hello...

i'm wondering if anyone knows how to stop the "unknown scancode" errors that appear on the console..

i'm using a microsoft wireless natural multimedia keyboard (via a kvm); i suspect the errors are caused when the keyboard "updates" the computer on its battery life status. i realize there is probably not another driver that this will work with, so i would just like to turn the 'feature' off.

exact error:

kernel: atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0x81 on isa0060/serio0)
kernel: atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e001 ' to make it known.

i've tried using 'setkeycodes e001 0' to 'make it known', but errors persist.

this happens on both of my debian boxes (one using 2.4, one with 2.6.81). it didn't appear to occur as i was installing gentoo on another box.

getting rid of the error entirely would be nice, however i really just want it to stop being displayed on the console. kind of bothersome...

any help will be appreciated. thanks.
