Time Event
Hey everybody,

Figured it out. Gonna use something like this...

mkisofs -J -R -v -T -o -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 8 -boot-info-table $DVD

I've got FC3 and Slackware 10.0 each in multiple CD iso images. Is there someway I can compress them into one DVD iso each? I've already tried creating my own iso using the information on the first bootable CD iso and copying the meat and potatoes out of the others. I now have a large backup DVD of the meat and potatoe RPM's.. hehe.

If I'm already doing it correctly, how do I make the ISO I made last night bootable?

Oh, and I have to burn it on a Windows machine.

Thanks for your help!
Debian upfuqued my laptop
I've got a Sony Vaio PCG FX190k ( http://www.red4est.com/vaiodiva ) and now I'm totally hosed. X comes up really poorly, the mousepad is upfuqued.

Before I installed Debian it would boot up into either widows on hda1 or Fedora Core 1 on hda6, now it won't boot to either. I tried looking at /boot/grub to try to copy stuff over to make it happy, but the two systems seem to use different file structures. And, on top of all that, emacs isn't part of the standard debian install. grumble bitch moan gripe. So, now I've got a system that'll barely boot on Debian and won't boot to either of the working partitions at all.
Which Debian mirror for apt-get?
I live in Santa Cruz, near the Bay area. As I've mentioned, I'm wrestling with Debian on my laptop. What's the best place to point apt-get at. I'm trying to install emacs and related files from mirrors.kernel.org (the default) and it's telling me 8-12 hours.
anyone have recommendations about setting up a linux box to work as a Windows Active Directory PDC or another way to have the same system, where windows machine on a network all authenticate usernames and passwords from one database? I can't leave my windows boxes in the dust for work and various other reasons, and I absolutely hate everything about configuring windows server 2000 or 2003. thanks for your suggestions.
