Are there ways ?
I am looking for more than one means to identify [as in manufacturer and the model number ex. Intel 815] the hardware parts of any system.

I wanna identify:

  • Motherboard.
  • Processor.
  • Sound card.
  • AGP / Video card.
  • Internal MODEM.
  • Whatever else is there in the system.

One place I have found is /etc/sysconfig/hwconf, but this does not list Motherboard ! :(( and its very important.

I am building a documentation provision system for a System integrator. So he wants my process to:

  • Identify the H/w components.
  • Install the required documentation is predefined folder.

I want to use RPM for this.

Any advice/comments are much appreciated.

TIA.
