Okay, well, I've written a manpage for cpp2latex 2.3, and offered to do so for future versions of cpp2latex. I'd like to be able to tell the author how to configure his Makefile or whatever to install the manpage (cpp2latex.1.gz) to the appropriate folder, since it can be different for different systems.
My boyfriend and I got Fedora 1 (getting 2 in a few days). We're very new to the whole thing, and can't figure out how to change the default web browser from Mozilla to Firefox. There's an option to add a new item to the internet folder, but whenever we try to add Firefox, we get the following error:

Cannot save menu item to disk

Details: Error writing file 'applications:/Internet/More Internet/Firefox.desktop': Unsupported operation

We then tried changing it in Preferred Applications, but got a similar error.

What are we doing wrong?
KDE panel icons
i set icons on a panel in KDE, reboot and it resets all my icons. what's up with that? how can i save my current KDE panel configuration?
PPC bootable LiveCDs?
Does anyone have any experience with bootable LiveCDs for the PowerPC architecture, ideally which might be useful in repair or data recovery for Macs?

I know about Gentoo's PPC LiveCDs - a new release is apparently coming that I'm waiting on. But what about besides that? I thought I saw a couple of Knoppix related ones, but one had websites all in French and seemed kinda old.

All tips are welcome. I'm building up my technician software toolkit. Have lots of Windows and x86 Linux stuff, but very little for PPC Linux or Macs.
Where is JAVA_HOME set on RedHat AS 3.0?
I tried looking in /etc/profile, /etc/bashrc, & /etc/profile.d but nothing there. Anyone know where it is?

Just thought this tip might be useful...
In Mozilla/Firefox if you set your homepage to “site1|site2|site3|...|siteN” it will open each of those sites in a tab every time you go to your homepage. I hope someon find this useful/helpful/cool ins some way...
