How To question...
Once per day my httpd server stop working.

Upon verifying /var/log:

May 16 01:45:48 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 8950 (httpd).
May 16 01:45:55 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 8589 (kdesktop_lock).
May 16 01:46:02 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 8951 (httpd).
May 16 01:46:09 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 8952 (httpd).
May 16 01:46:15 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 8588 (kdesktop_lock).
May 16 01:46:22 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 1625 (mysqld).
May 16 01:46:22 bm8 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 1626 (mysqld).

It appears there may be a memory leak.

Question is:

How does one trace which application is using too much memory ? {while you sleep}
I'm suspecting its mysqld because httpd has been running fine for some time
but I did make some minor httpd.conf changes.

I did have swap problems not long ago {it wasn't configured} but that seems to be ok now:

ie:

# free
.............total.......used..........free.........shared buffers cached
Mem:....254940....234296......20644......0 14036 77320
-/+ buffers/cache: 142940 112000
Swap:....433744....1860...........431884

Using Fedora.
Thanks.

[Fedora - DHCP] Fedora acts funny !
X posted on aivalli !

When I do a

#service dhcpd start
dhcpd: unrecognised service

I have installed dhcp*.rpms. Now what more do I need to do ?

chkconfig does not list dhcpd as a service ! :(

What am I missing ? Any pointers ?

TIA.
