Need help with Linux Mandrake for SPARC...
I'm using a SPARC5 110 with 224 Megs of RAM, internal floppy and CDROM, two internal HD's and an external SCSI HD.

My initial attempt at installing Mandrake Linux didn't work because of PROM limitations that SILO can't read past 1 Gig. So, I installed it again, this time with only a 1 Gig root partition. But now when I try to boot, SILO seems to work, but Linux gives me this error:

VFS: Cannot open root device 00:00
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00

Any ideas on what's wrong, and how to fix it?

Oh, here's my partition table, just in case it helps...

/ sdc1 (1 GB)
swap sdb1 (520 MB)
/usr sda1 (2 GB)
/home sda2 (2 GB)
/var sdc2 (1 GB)

Current Mood: determined
