wtf!?!?!?!
I went into the kde menu editor to add something, It took about a min to load then it took staroffice and all the winex stuff I added off the menu. That really pissed me off. I went into $(HOME)/.kde/applnk were the added stuff is and nothing was there. Dose anyone know why my stuff has been deleted and how I can prevent it?

Thanks,
Nuke

Firewall
I'm looking into building a Firewall/DNS/DHCP server on my home network, and I have a system canibalized together. My question is if anyone could recommend a good minimalist linux distribution that I could run (easy configuration is a plus too). If anyone has had any experience with this, I'd appreciate a comment.

Shameless Plug
I just wanted to post an shameless plug for the mysql community which I am the new maintainer for.
If anyone of you use the world's most popular open source database for work or play, this community is a great place to discuss anything from basic SQL to Performance tuning.

ChemE needs assistance!
Okay, so I have a Pentium II (?) computer in my lab with a Flashbus MV Lite capture card and an analog monochrome CCD camera. I've been working on a research project, the most difficult aspect of which has been creating a computer that can automatically capture still images and determine numerical data from them.

The programs I've been playing with (Imagetool, Image Pro Express demo, and a few others) are far too buggy to rely on, and I don't like the version of Windows 98 on the computer. On top of that, while I was gone over the summer, someone installed a half-dozen spyware- and adware-laden file-sharing programs and god knows what else, and now I can't get any of my image programs to work at all.

If anyone knows of a good application for Windows 9x or any Linux distro that could do this, please let me know. I have little skill in programming, but I can get by if there's well-documented script support in the program itself.

I don't have much to offer, but if anyone's willing to invest some time into helping me, I can easily acknowledge you in my thesis.

Thanks in advance!
