Time Event
If you get a minute..
I'm not actually a linux person.. it confuses me. However, my bf Jay prefers it over windows. He actally runs a Linux help site. He is thinking of taking it down because noone goes to it, so I was hoping maybe if you get a minute, someone in here would be interested in checking it out? Even if you just went and sent him some feedback maybe as to why noone goes to it. Thank you in advance to anyone/everyone.

where's my harddrive space going?
hi all. i'm confused. when i reboot linux i start with about 60% of my partition free, but over the course of a couple days my partition gets more full (right now it's 15% free). "du -sh" on my root directory reports 873mb are being used, but "df -h" reports 1.4gb are being used

[root@localhost /]# du -x --max-depth=1 -h
16k ./lost+found
352k ./dev
51M ./var
1.9M ./tmp
7.5M ./etc
5.9M ./bin
6.8M ./boot
708M ./home
4.0k ./initrd
70M ./lib
16k ./mnt
4.0k ./opt
15M ./root
8.9M ./sbin
4.0k ./misc
873M .

[root@localhost /]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdb5 1.7G 1.4G 254M 85% /

11:34pm up 8 days, 5:13, 3 users, load average: 2.21, 2.02, 1.70

I don't get where my partition is getting filled.

my system has been up 8 days, and i've lost about 600mb into thin air, as far as I can tell. If I were to reboot now, the partition would be back at "expected" size.

any clues?
