Oh wow. two posts in one week.

Or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love Fedora.

OK, I'll get to the point. Fedora 9 NFS.

Having successfully kicked svnserver and vncserver into shape (in a way that doesn't prevent system config tools running) I'm now stuck on NFS. I've managed this with CentOS 4 and I've got most of it down but there's still a couple of showstoppers and the fedora forums are coming up empty.

So. I'd like to day in advance I'm not that big a Star Wars geek, I don't have the trilogy on VHS and DVD and some old AT-ST toy or anything... oh wait.

All necessary ports are open.

Now, mountd keeps rejecting the box running OpenSUSE (how appropriate) and while it allows a Mac even a basic test copy can't be done as it keeps apparently timing out.

grep mountd /var/log/messages

Nov 15 01:12:00 Palpatine mountd[4241]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.0.9:1016 for /var/backup/share (/var/backup/share)
Nov 15 01:16:46 Palpatine mountd[4241]: refused mount request from 192.168.0.4 for /var/backup/Boba/linux/ (/): not exported

It occurs to me that the refused request did not have a port number, OpenSUSE has been funny with NFS for a while.

grep rpc /var/log/messages

Nov 15 01:21:41 Palpatine kernel: rpcbind: server anakin.local not responding, timed out

grep nfs /var/log/messages
